Who are you?
Clif, but I guess most people know me as Rashi. I’m currently 20 years old, 21 in a little less than a month, and I’m a creative I guess as cliché as that sounds.

What do you do?
I do so much of everything, everyone that knows me knows I’m a jack of all trades, so I cant name just one specific thing. I’ve been a visual artist for as long as I can remember whether that be through charcoal and paper or graphic design. Music production, film & photography, fashion design are all passions of mine too. Basically, if it has anything to do with art I try and get my hands in it. In recent years fashion design has held my focus and that led me to create my brand Rashi Ajaar. In addition to that I started Marlboro Market with my friends, that’s a store that we’re planning to open soon, but we’re doing pop-ups all through the east coast until then.

Where are you located?
I am located in the DMV, PG County Maryland to be specific.

What is your creative process?
I think it all depends on what kind of phase I’m going through in life at the time of creating. Sometimes I’ll be super motivated to work and go into hyperdrive and I’ll just pump out as many ideas as I can think of and sort through them and focus on the best ones. Other times I can be very lax and come across some inspiration in an anime or movie and create a piece detail by detail.

What album changed your life?
I’m stuck between two. One is Take Care (I was getting my heart broken a lot at the time) lmao and the other is Doppleganger from Fall of Troy.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully with endless bands somewhere still on the east coast, or maybe Africa lol. Seriously though, I hope to have a few Marlboro Market locations up and running, a cult following for Rashi Ajaar, and a son. I think being a young cool dad is pretty fire.

If you could own any garment/ accessory ever what would it be?
This is a tough question, but if it has to be something that already exists then I’d have to go with the legendary De Stijl Raf boots. If it could be just anything then I’d want some boots or maybe an arm from some anime mech suit lmao.

What fashion house would you work for if you had a choice?
As much as I want to say Margiela as that’s my favorite I think I’d go with a younger house and work at Sacai. I love literally every collection they put out and I think I’d fit in quite well there.

Best collection of all time
Supreme x Louis Vuitton easily! Just kidding, I don’t think I’ve done enough research into everyone’s past collections to give a good answer.

Favorite car?
Toyota MR2 Gen 1 with a sick body kit of course.

What period in time do you wish you could live in?
I always think this is a funny question for POC’s because the options are kinda limited if you think about it, but I wouldn’t mind living in the mid 80’s if I could. I imagine life in Harlem would be pretty cool, very Do The Right Thing- esque.

Something most people don't know about you?
I was a really good football player back in the day. I got scholarships to go to private schools in the area but I ended up going to the public high school down the street from my house. I started on Varsity as a freshman and held my own. I truthfully think I could’ve went to the league, but it just wasn’t for me, I wasn’t passionate about it like everyone else on the field.

Dream collaboration?
Rashi Ajaar x Studio Ghibli or Nike. I feel like if I don’t get a shoe before I die my mission in life will have been failed.

Favorite movie?
Spirited Away

What’s the best meal you’ve ever eaten?
The very first Jack Daniel’s Burger I had from TGI Fridays.

Favorite piece you’ve made?
Probably this wool long coat that’s split top and bottom and connected by small black ropes. Its mostly grey with black trim around the hems. It got featured in the street style on Grailed for NYFW back in February and I also met the owner of Opening Ceremony while wearing it and he said he loved it so I think its pretty deserving of being my Favorite.

What was your first job?
I worked at an aftercare for a while but my first real real job was at a Bed Bath & Beyond

Favorite artist?
Anyone coming out of the DMV right now really. Goldlink, Q da Fool, Goonew, Brent Faiyaz, Lil Dude, REZT, Mekile, its too many to choose from.

Whos coming up next?
My homie Mak at Kitchen Basics, the bro Brando at Grandeur Styling, Random Object Gallery, Airin Niria, Untouched1 and so many others. I know so many people that are creating super fire pieces and art that it’s impossible to name them all but they were a part of my recent pop-up so they get the shout out lol. If you keep up with me you’ll see them all, I love to spotlight my friends and others that are putting in work.

Any last words?
Big shout out to Coyote White for this opportunity. Ruben is doing amazing things and I’m hoping for his success. Looking cool and being a part of this culture is dope and all but what’s important is helping out everyone in the community in whatever ways you can.
